The sand entering the dryer rises due to the rotation of its drum. It is then lowered in a stream of hot air or other drying agent. For drying sand, diaphragm dryers are most commonly used, used when the dried material can easily come into contact with the drying agent. They are usually mounted at an angle, which facilitates the movement of the material inside the machine drum. Two- or multi-speed dryers are a bit more difficult to operate. Some of them even offer the possibility of cooling the material. In two-speed dryers, the material is fed into the so-called inner mantle, where its movement corresponds to the movement of the drying agent. The material then enters the outer shell, where its movement is opposite to that of the drying agent. There may also be cooling of the sand with the help of atmospheric air.
